Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt. Ltd. is one of the two franchises of McDonald's in India. It has the right to own and operate all of McDonald's restaurants in India (west and south markets) since 1996. Currently, the client is operating McDonald's through 300+ restaurants across 40+ cities and 10 states in India.

What was the objective of the client?

HRPL is planning to open 500 McD outlets by 2022.

To achieve such a target, McDonald's needed to increase their agility. Surprisingly, a majority of McDonald's stores have been using backlit menu displays in its stores, which create limitations for stores to implement new campaigns and discount offers rapidly.

The company was facing higher time-to-market and recurring costs for logistics and other associated costs. Activities such as preparing, shipping, and replacing the physical menu boards used to take 3-4 weeks. This was becoming a bottleneck.

Credencys helped the client to replace their physical menu boards with Xynage - a smart and simple digital signage solution. It is providing McDonald’s better controls and freedom to tweak menus, offer local deals, and centrally manage all campaigns. The solutions brought down printing, distribution, and maintenance cost of menu boards to zero. Today, Xynage powers 1700+ screens across 240+ McDonald’s outlets in India.

Flexible scheduling allows changes in content on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis automatically. The CMS also supports event-based scheduling.

A user can store and schedule the content on the local server, which is then pushed to the cloud as soon as the Internet connection resumes.

Dynamic Menu

Xynage CMS allows an admin to update the content of multiple menu boards from a single portal. It will help him/her to display changes from broader menu options easily. Since the CMS supports location-based price updates, it will help admin to set, based on the restaurant location, different prices of the same products.

Zero Maintenance Cost

Replacing the backlit menu display with digital display helped the client to reduce the cost of preparing, shipping, and replacing posters used to show menu items, offers, new launches, and discounts. Along with the maintenance cost, the solution also helped the client to reduce the maintenance time.

Reduction in Operational Cost

The dayparting feature helps the client to display different menu items based on a particular time in a day. The client can show different menus for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. This feature helped them to reduce their operational cost 4x as now they don’t need to print and change posters multiple times in a day.

Dynamic Screen Aspect Ratio

Xynage can display both horizontal as well as verticle images according to the requirements of the client. For example, they can show a 16:9 image (original aspect ratio) in a 9:16 image (vertical image). It helps the client to make their digital menu presentation even better.
